Split PDF
Separate a PDF into parts or extract only the pages you need.
Open in the app The app opens with this tool already selected. Your PDF is not uploaded anywhere.
How it works
Choose a PDF and specify how you want to split it: by page ranges (for example 1-3, 5, 7-), every few pages, or one page per file. Before creating anything, you can see the list of output files and which pages each will contain. Then download them one by one or all together in a ZIP.
The original PDF is not modified: new files are created on your device. Everything happens in your browser’s memory, so a very large PDF or one split into many parts will require more time and memory.
The resulting files keep the pages as they are, together with bookmarks, title and author, metadata, page labels, embedded files and form fields. Password-protected PDFs can be split: the site asks for the password and the results are saved without a password.
What is not preserved, and limits
- Pages are preserved as they appear: text, images, fonts, sizes, rotations, and links.
- Not preserved: accessibility tags (tagged PDF), layers and document JavaScript. If a file is damaged and has to be rebuilt with the fallback engine, bookmarks, document information and form fields are not preserved either.
- Any operation invalidates a digital signature: in our tests with 17 signed PDFs, none remained valid after processing.
- Password-protected PDFs can be split: the site asks for the password and it is only used in your browser, never saved or sent. The results are saved without a password. PDFs protected with a digital certificate instead of a password cannot be opened.
- Very large files (over roughly 100-150 MB total, or with thousands of pages) may fail, especially on mobile devices, because everything runs in your device's memory.
Why it is different
This tool works inside your browser. The file you choose stays on your device and is not sent to any server. That is why you do not need an account or an email to use it.
