Watermark PDF

Put “CONFIDENTIAL”, a logo or any text over the pages of your PDF.

Open in the app The app opens with this tool already selected. Your PDF is not uploaded anywhere.

How it works

Choose a PDF and type the text (or choose a PNG or JPG image). Adjust the size, opacity, rotation (diagonal, horizontal, vertical or any angle), position, whether it goes over or under the content, and which pages it applies to. The preview shows the page as it will look.

The text is drawn with an embedded font (a subset of Noto Sans), so accents, the letter ñ, opening punctuation, Greek and Cyrillic come out right, and the text can still be selected and searched. PNG images keep their transparency.

The watermark is added to each page without rewriting the document: the original file stays inside the result, and bookmarks, forms and metadata are kept. Everything happens in your browser and the file is not sent anywhere.

What is not preserved, and limits

  • Once saved, the watermark is part of the page and this tool does not remove it. Keep the original. It is not a protection either: whoever has the PDF can crop or delete it with another program.
  • “Under the content” only shows where the page is transparent: a colored background or a full-page scan covers it. In that case use “Over”.
  • A digital signature stays in the file, but PDF readers will warn that the document was modified after it was signed.
  • Interlaced PNGs are not supported (save them without interlacing or use a JPG), nor are WebP, GIF or HEIC.
  • Each character is drawn on its own: there is no right-to-left writing (Arabic, Hebrew) or contextual forms. Characters that the font does not have (for example Chinese) are not drawn; the site warns you if that happens.
  • Password-protected PDFs can be watermarked: the site asks for the password and it is only used in your browser, never saved or sent. The result keeps the same password. PDFs protected with a digital certificate instead of a password cannot be opened.
  • Very large files (over roughly 100-150 MB in total, or with thousands of pages) may fail, especially on phones, because everything happens in your device's memory.

Why it is different

This tool works inside your browser. The file you choose stays on your device and is not sent to any server. That is why you do not need an account or an email to use it.
