Crop PDF

How it works

Choose a PDF and type how much you want to remove from the top, right, bottom and left, in millimeters or points; you can also drag the crop edges on the page thumbnail. Choose which pages it applies to (all, or a range like 1-3, 5).

By default it changes the visible area of the page (the “crop box”), and the rest of the content stays in the file, hidden. If you check “final crop”, the page size changes too, so that viewers and printers use the cropped page. In both cases, what falls outside is NOT deleted from the file.

The margins are measured on the page as it looks, also if it is rotated or if its visible area does not start at the corner. The change is appended to the end of the file without rewriting it. Everything happens in your browser.

What is not preserved, and limits

• Cropping does not delete what falls outside: the text and images stay inside the file and someone with another program could recover them. If the content is confidential, this tool is not a way to hide it.
• The crop never goes beyond the original page size and must leave at least 10 points visible in each direction.
• A digital signature stays in the file, but PDF readers will warn that the document was modified after it was signed.
• Password-protected PDFs can be cropped: the site asks for the password and it is only used in your browser, never saved or sent. The result keeps the same password. PDFs protected with a digital certificate instead of a password cannot be opened.
• Links and annotations that fall outside the crop stay in the file, even though they are no longer visible.
• Very large files (over roughly 100-150 MB in total, or with thousands of pages) may fail, especially on phones, because everything happens in your device's memory.
